On 7th & 8th June 2007, 11 members of Cumbernauld Rugby Club set themselves the challenge of running the West Highland Way. We have organized this event to raise money for local worthy causes.
As you probably know the west Highland way is 95miles from Milngavie to Fort William and most people do this by walking over 5-8 days but to be more adventurous we intended to run it over 2days but aimed to do it in less than 30hours.
Over the past few years several friends of ours have needed medical help and we feel it’s now time to pay back the hospitals and their staff for the care and attention they have shown our friends.
The hospitals and staff who do an excellent job are worthy of us going through a painful and challenging task, to receive your generous donations. No matter how large or small that donation was.
All funds raised will be split between three organizations:
1. The Neonatal Intensive Care department at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary who care for premature and unwell babies.
2. Strathcarron Hospice who are committed to the provision of free specialist care to not only patients with terminal illnesses but also active progressive illness and support of their families.
3. To be confirmed – (Cancer Support)
We greatly appreciate all the support that you gave us for these very worthwhile causes.
Special mention to our support driver the one and only STAVROS
